A licensed toter tows it in one piece to the new land. It is still a wide load, so we run a route survey and pull the ALDOT permit first. Local single-wide moves run $3,000 to $6,000.
Double-Wide and Multi-Section Moves
A double-wide takes more work because it comes apart. We separate the two halves at the marriage line and tow each one on its own trip. On the new site we re-mate them: set the ridge beam that ties the two roofs together, close the roof cap over the seam, and seal the joint so the home stays watertight. A triple-wide takes three trips and the same care on the join. Double-wide and multi-section moves run $8,000 to $15,000.
The Frame and the Floor Travel Too
Both sizes ride on the steel chassis under the home. We check the frame, the floor, and the outriggers before the move, because the frame is what carries the load down the road. A sound frame travels well. A weak one gets flagged before we haul it. If a home is too far gone to move safely, we say so and talk through a haul-off and removal instead.
Reset After the Haul
However many trips it takes, the home lands on a new pier foundation. We level and block it, tie it down to Wind Zone II standards, and connect the utilities. A double-wide gets its seam sealed and its center line set before any of that. The set-up work is what turns a delivered home into a home you can live in.
